A little about Me -Tom

Disclaimer:  This survey was made for a girl, but I made him fill it out anyway.  I told him it was for the children.  He always agrees to that!

Guilty pleasure?
Coca Cola.  I know I need to quit...   but I don't know how.  I'm addicted.
Recent splurge?
Well, I've recently purchased several "splurge" like items.  It's Christmas.  Oddly enough, the two most expensive things I've purchased this year for Christmas presents have both already been returned.
In bulk, I buy?
Coke, see above, and Ice Cream.  Never want to run out of either of these.  I don't know what I'd do.
My go-to play on 3rd and long?
I've always been a big fan of the 15 yard crossing pattern where the wideouts get the corners to "pick" each other.  The Greatest Show on Turf had this mastered.  Wish Bradford would try throwing the ball 15 yards down the field....  ever.
Comfort food?
Mashed Potatoes.  They go with everything for me.
For breakfast?
Sausage Muffin and a large Coke.  $2.16.
For dinner?
Lasagna.  Pasta House's is the best outside my Mom's or Shannon's.
Love/hate relationship with?
The Rams.  Again, see above.  I wish they didn't stink, but the ugly truth is they have for a long long time now.
Can't stop watching?
Reality TV.  I'm not as bad as Shannon, but still pretty bad.  At least I don't watch VH1, Bravo, or E! reailty tv.
Dreaming about?
Financial Security.  There is nothing, ...nothing I want more than to know that we won't have to worry about how we'll pay for the girls' college, our retirement, or being able to live our lives comfortably.  Oh, how times have changed.  I used to want to be a rockstar.
Every guy should have?
A standing card game.  Weekly?  Monthly?  I don't, but I'd kill to have a group of guys that lived close enough to still do this.
My style in five words?
Short.  Tall.  Philadelphia.
I love wearing?
Jeans.  I spend so much of my life wearing suit pants, nothing beats changing into jeans when I get home.
Dream job?
Well, if we're back to dreaming, I suppose "Rockstar" still fits the bill.  Over the years I've met so many people that have sooo much more talent than me...   and still haven't made it.  So, I'll leave the pursuit of stardom in dreamland.

A little about Me

Thanks to my sis at Tall Blonde Blog for this fun idea!

Teal and I at her Rapunzel 4th birthday party

Guilty pleasure?

This time of the year, definitely mint M&M's.  This year I allowed myself 3 bags.  I had one in October when they first came out and then didn't allow myself anymore until December.  I think last year I had a bag a week.  Trying to be better about that now!

Recent splurge?

New shelves and light bar for our family room.  It was definitely a splurge but we still "saved money" with the one we chose.  Right?  It's possible to save money while buying something.  Just go with it!

In bulk, I buy?

Nothing really.  We are chronic runner outters.  We run out of something and run out to the store to get it only to be reminded that we ran out of something else and go to the store again.  Organized aren't we?

My go-to flower?

I have always liked classics so my go-to is the red rose.  I also love hydrangeas and gerber daisies.

Comfort food?

Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate!!!  Preferably chocolate with mint!

For breakfast?

Egg whites with hot sauce, green peppers, turkey pepperoni and one Laughing Cow garlic and herb cheese slice. Oatmeal with pecans and flax seed when I have less time.  Lots of coffee with almond milk and sugar-free peppermint mocha creamer!

For dinner?

This is kind of a tough one.  I really like anything cooked at home.  In the summer it's definitely barbecue chicken with Sweet Baby Rays and some sort of veggie side.  My hubby has turned into quite the grillmaster.  I also love anything Mexican or spicy. Out to eat - Buffalo Wild Wings - Buffalo Chicken Ranch Wrap with medium sauce.

Love/hate relationship with?
Teaching again.  I love the kids, hate the BS that exists in schools now!

Can't stop watching?
Eek.  Okay this is embarrassing.  Most reality TV!  The Biggest Loser, Amazing Race, Survivor, anything on Bravo or MTV, The Soup, Fashion Popo and my fave non-reality sitcom - How I Met Your Mother.

Dreaming about?
I dream about a lot.  Mostly where are we going on our next vacation or what "improvements" to the house can I drive my hubby crazy with today.

Every girl should have?
Great friends and family, a great "hair girl(or boy)", and an outfit that makes you feel beautful and confident.

My style in five words?
Classic, blue jeans, boho chic (I only wish I had enough style to pull this off), easy (get ur mind out of the gutter!), simple

I love wearing?
cute shoes

Dream job?
I have never been one to dream about my career and I was never a kid that said I want to be ______ when I grow up.  That's the honest truth. I have TOO MANY interests. Its hard to chose one thing. Being a MOM is #1!!!   Photography is my current passion. I'd like to be a school Counselor in my next life.

Meeting your big sis for the first time

Your cozy going home outfit

You had LOTS of dark hair!

This is what our house looked like when you were born!

Chillin with your big sis.

Your first Christmas!
Happy 4th Birthday Tealie!  You were born right before Thanksgiving and have given us so much to be thankful for!  You are smart, beautiful, sporty, competitive and hilarious!! You were born a couple of days before Thanksgiving so we actually celebrated Thanksgiving in the hospital!  Rino came to meet you and our families brought us dinner. We got to relax and enjoy our new addition.  It was beyond perfect!  You arrived home to the apartment we lived in for 6 months while our house was being built.

I love you Turkey Baby!

Isn't she lovely?

Rino made this for me on Tealie's first day of school.  She had been in school for a couple of weeks and Tealie was sooooo excited to start Pre-pre-K!  I told them how happy I was that they both got to go to school but that I would be sad that they wouldn't be with me as much anymore.  Love her empathetic heart!

The double ED

So Tealie Bear is in the cutest stage right now.  She is right on the edge of still being a toddler and moving on to a big girl. I have to remind myself that she is still little and sometimes, she reminds me. Every word that she says that ends in an -ed, she adds another ed to it.  "Mommy, I workeded really hard at school today", "I really likeded that pink shirt", "We goeded to the lake!"  You get the idea. Now, I'm not usually a fan of encouraging my kids' bad grammar and I definitely don't talk baby talk back to them (yeah, cannot stand when adults do that).  I just think it's so cute, I don't have the heart to correct her. Maybe it's just one last ditch effort to hold on to what will likely be my last baby. Do you see a theme in all of my posts - yeah....cute kids.
"I scoreded my first goal!" (actually 5 but we're trying not to be all braggy about it!)

The time that I don't want to forget

I can count on more than one hand the amount of times this year that I've said I love this time in our lives.  Our girls are a little "older", the baby stuff - naps, feeding, diapers, tantrums are long gone (mostly), and we have been able to enjoy so much quality family time. Case in point, we drove for hours on our first big family vacation (see previous post) without any complaining from the kids.  They kept themselves entertained for endless hours in the car.  During our trip to D.C., we walked for almost 6 hours straight.  Hubby later google mapped it and our little girls walked close to 10 miles that night.  No strollers....  I won't say they didn't complain about this one.  They did get tired, but they still did it.

One of my favorite things about "this time" is their personalities.  It's a time when their little personalities are mostly developed into who they are deep inside and have not yet been changed by friends, media, etc.  They are in their purest form and I love it.  The other night at dinner, I stopped and just watched my girls in all of their glory.  So happy, so proud to have this unbelievable family.  I just stared at them while they ate their dinner, acted silly, and just looked plain cute!  Then I looked over at Tom.....and he was doing the same thing.  We just watched them and didn't say a word.  "This is perfect"....is what I'm pretty sure we were both thinking.

Rino is and has always been our happy, smiling girl. She is caring and empathetic even when developmentally, most kids are not able to show concern for others, she does (and has for a while). I love her positivity.  It is contagious.  I hope she always has this attitude.  Yesterday, after a long night of tossing and turning and hardly any sleep, I was getting ready to take her to school.  She busts into a song. "I'm walking on sunshine."  How could that not make you smile.  Seriously, sometimes I think she truly walks on sunshine.  What a life!

See how much they love eachother??
Up until 3 1/2, Tealie has always been feisty.  She knows what she wants and will go get it.  She is outgoing, and imaginative.  She can play for hours with all of her stuffed animals having hilarious conversations with each other.  Did I mention she is HILARIOUS???  She always wants to know if she if funny.  It's obviously part of her untouched personality.  But in the last month or so, she also has developed an empathy that cannot be taught.  She came downstairs after watching a Tigger movie.  She was crying and could not be consoled.  I thought she was hurt until she finally told me that Piglet was being mean to Tigger.  She doesn't want anyone to hurt.  Even cartoon characters.  She has been known to tell me when she is sad by saying, "You hurt my FEELING".  Just the one feeling.  :)  And one more thing, she LOVES school.  She goes three days a week (which this momma thinks is a lot) and she is still upset when she can't go.

My FAVORITE thing about this time is the closeness of these sisters.  I used to wish I had them just a little closer together so that they could be closer but so far, it doesn't seem to matter.  They LOVE each other and have a constant playmate.  My hope is that they will continue to stay this close and always have a best friend in each other.  Sisters are such a blessing. :)
